Not the usual suspects. Not the markets or the people who already have megaphones. The leaders in Asia-Pacific, Africa, Latin America, the Middle East, Central and Eastern Europe, and yes, the parts of the United States and Europe whose stories still fall through the cracks of an increasingly narrow global media conversation.

Women represent just 19% of expert sources quoted in global media — a number that has barely shifted in three decades. The people deciding what the world hears and whose expertise counts are 73% male. That is not an opinion about fairness. It is a structural failure with a measurable economic cost. The World Bank estimates that closing the gender gap in employment could add 20% to global GDP. The gap between what women leaders contribute and what the world knows about them is not a social problem. It is the largest addressable market failure in the global economy.
